Meet our 2025 Summer Analysts, the next generation of investors
This year, Kompass Kapital welcomed three Summer Analysts to our office: Brady Jackson, Henry Kirk, and Nathan “Ike” Irvin.
During this nine-week internship, our analysts will receive an immersive experience of the full investment evaluation process. The case study: an HVAC company. Advancements in technology, the importance of indoor air quality, and evolving environmental standards have caused a boom in this industry. Their strong customer base and expanding services makes HVAC a strategic move for investors looking to back a growing private sector.
Informed by current market trends and investor strategy, our summer analysts will also learn:
Foundations of Private Equity & Investment Strategy: A deep dive into private equity fundamentals, including sourcing, due diligence, underwriting, and post-investment strategy.
Industry Research & Market Analysis: Gain skills in market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM), segmentation, SWOT analysis, and competitive positioning using tools like Porter’s Five Forces.
Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build and analyze financial models (LBO/DCF), identify revenue and cost drivers, and assess risk and potential deal breakers.
Due Diligence Process: Simulate an investor’s diligence process by examining operational, legal, ESG, and management factors, and identifying red flags.
Strategic Business Planning: Outline post-close strategies including growth initiatives, KPI development, exit planning, and IRR forecasting.
Capstone Presentation: Synthesize all their findings into a final investment memo and pitch deck to present to the investment team.
Developing soft skills are essential for well-rounded team members. Working closely with our investment team will teach our interns the importance of communication and collaboration. They’ll find that adaptability, teamwork, and a learning posture are the foundations of any good investment strategy.
Now, let’s introduce our next generation of investors.
Brady Jackson
A rising junior studying finance at Kansas State University, Brady is excited to learn the ins and outs of private equity funding. His focus is on learning to maximize returns for investors and owners, while delivering quality and maintaining honest business practices throughout the investment journey.
Fun fact about Brady: Don’t let the suit and tie fool you. Brady believes he can rock out with the best of them – holding his bassist skills equal to Robert Trujillo, leading bass player for Metallica. (He also admits this might be naïve.)
Henry Kirk
A rising junior studying finance and political economy at Tulane University, Henry looks forward to more hands-on internship experience. He’s eager to learn the inner workings of private equity management and acquisitions with an emphasis on financial modeling.
What Henry does in his free time: He produces music and DJs. Drop us your Spotify artist link, Henry!
Nathan “Ike” Irvin
A double major in finance and economics from the University of Alabama and currently pursuing a master’s in finance from Vanderbilt University, Ike is eager to gain a deeper insight into the private equity process. He’s ready to learn it all from sourcing and valuation to underwriting and exit strategy.
Fun fact about Ike: He’s the only boy in his family, surrounded by three sisters that he adores. When he’s not busy hanging out with them, he enjoys playing pickleball – a recent convert to the game after being a lifelong tennis player.
At Kompass Kapital, we believe people are the greatest investment. When we invest in young minds, we invest in a brighter future that benefits all of us. Dive deeper into our funding strategy and people on our About Us page.
