Description: Kompass Kapital had outgrown its location at the nearby Windmill Village Office Park, where employees were scattered in five buildings. Head of Operations Cindy Pritchett said the original building was constructed in the 1970s, and the updated property is more energy efficient. Kompass is pursuing gold-level LEED certification.

Going green: The project includes energy-efficient lighting and a 22,000-gallon cistern that stores rainwater for flushing toilets and urinals as well as lawn irrigation. The system is expected to reduce water use by more than 68%.

Unique features: The renovation included increasing the number of bathrooms and adding a large training room, fitness room and kitchen.

Challenges: Kompass started moving in during August of 2021 despite issues related to the pandemic.

“Covid touched construction in every phase,” Pritchett said. “We faced challenges in getting product, shipping, increases in cost and especially manpower. There were times Covid had us at a complete halt when a trade was out sick or product was in limbo.”

What’s Next: Pritchett said Kompass plans to complete an outdoor space that can be used for relaxation, events, training or meetings by the end of the year. The 1,500-square-foot space will include a koi pond, fire pit and putting green.
